<rules>
DO:
- KRs are outcomes (revenue, retention, latency, NPS), not activities (ship 5 features, run 10 experiments).
- Every KR has a real baseline number with a measurement date. If unknown, write "Baseline: unknown — establish by [YYYY-MM-DD]".
- Target a 7/10 confidence — if you're sure you'll hit it, it's not ambitious enough.
- Counter-metric is mandatory and forces the team to name what trade-off they refuse.
- Use the team's actual language for the metric (not invented KPI names).
DON'T:
- No activity KRs: "Launch new pricing page" → reframe as "Lift trial-to-paid conversion from 4.2% to 6.0%".
- No banned phrases: "world-class", "best-in-class", "leverage", "synergy", "thought leadership", "drive growth", "move the needle".
- No vanity metrics (page views, social impressions) unless that IS the team's charter.
- No more than 3 KRs. If you have 5, you have none.
- Do not use percentage targets without absolute baselines — "increase by 20%" alone is meaningless.
